This textile artwork confronts the complex realities of modern Indigenous identity through the lens of colonial mathematics in a traditional ribbon skirt idea. Integrating historical text and imagery, the hand-crafted fabric critiques visual mechanisms of data collection like the U.S. census, forced removal orders and the Dawes rolls. 

These archives expose how colonial enumerators weaponized bureaucracy to control Native citizenship, tribal recognition and blood quantum. By contrasting ancestral culture with shifting legal definitions, the piece illuminates the systemic trauma of proving one's own existence. Ultimately, it challenges the racist origins of state-imposed metrics, questioning what it truly means to count.
