About the Artist

Tonia Hogner-Weavel

Cherokee National Treasure

Tonia Hogner-Weavel, an award-winning artist, was granted the distinction of
Cherokee National Treasure in 2012 in textiles, an award given to citizens that
preserve and perpetuate Cherokee culture through art. In 2019, Hogner-Weavel
was awarded the Moscelyne Larkin Cultural Achievement Award by the Greater
Tulsa Area Indian Affairs Commission.

She is currently employed with the Cherokee Nation Language Department as a
cultural specialist. She has more than 30 years of experience sharing Cherokee
culture through lectures, workshops, classes (both in person and virtually) to
local communities, corporate diversity groups and international guests.
