About the Artist

Tamara Sigler

Cherokee Nation

Tamara Sigler (Cherokee Nation) has spent years adventuring in her home state of Oklahoma and exploring the beauty of the Southwest and Rocky Mountain states. Drawn by the landscape colors and expansive views, yet forever pulled by the myriad details along a trail, it is often these trailside treasures, rocks and wildflowers that form the basis of her art.

After graduating from college, Sigler entered a career in web design and digital imaging, while painting nights and weekends. Now able to devote energy to art full time, it is clear the years of design, illustration and exploration form a strong foundation to her work. Her art reflects the strong colors and patterns inspired by her home and her travels, and showcases a contemporary approach to composition along with a love and respect for traditional painting techniques.

She is a member of Oil Painters of America, Signature and a board member of the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society. Her work has shown in the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum's “Small Works Great Wonders,” as well as the Butler Museum of Art. Juried shows include the NOAPS Best of America Small Works International, Bosque Art Classic, Heroes and Outlaws, Oil Painters of America's Western Regional and OPA Eastern Regional Exhibition, which awarded her the Animal Award of Excellence. Other top awards include Best of Show for “Trail's End," Bauhaus Prairie Gallery's Master Artist Award and the Rusty Gables' Native Star Award. She is also included in a book by Linda Miller Bosteels, “The Spirit of the Buffalo.”
