Hand-coiled jar form, made from hand-processed "wild" clay and slips. Mississippian-inspired form and "water" incised designs on body of the jar, burnished and wood-fired with additional very unique smoking with oak leaves after initial firing. Two ear-type handles are inspired by "underwater panther" mythological type pottery.

About the Artist

Crystal Hanna

Cherokee Nation

Crystal Hanna has been a practicing "traditional" pottery since 1999 after an apprenticeship with Cherokee National Treasure Anna Mitchell. Hanna's work has been shown in museum exhibits and received multiple awards in nationally recognized markets and exhibits. She continues to teach traditional pottery programs at every opportunity.
