Making Pottery
Richard Graham
Category: Sculpture
A Cherokee woman makes pottery. Carved by hand with a knife and gouges. I used pine needles from my yard for eyelashes and flattened pine needles for eyebrows. The sculpture is carved from bass wood. I used black walnut stain for the hair, hat, and base stand. All colors are created with mixed staining. The necklace is bone and the hat beads are glass. No power tools were used to create the sculpture.
