About the Artist

Lee Roy Keener, Jr.

Cherokee Nation

Lee Roy Keener Jr. was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He is the grandson of Ben Keener and Bessie Lee (Rattlinggourd) Keener.

Keener attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Tulsa. He and his wife have been married for 44 years, and they have three children and two grandchildren. He served on the Council of the Cherokee Nation from 2011 to 2015.
